BAKO Northern & Scotland customer visit from 2nd – 5th September 2019

On Monday 2nd September, it was with great pleasure we were able to welcome BAKO Northern & Scotland and their guests to our Head Office in Kulmbach.

On Monday night after arrival, we made our way into Kulmbach for dinner which was washed down with a few famous Kulmbacher beers!

On Tuesday after breakfast, we walked the short distance to the IREKS HQ for the official welcome headed by Maurice van Tongeren (Executive Director IREKS U.K. Ltd.) and were shown the IREKS Group company film. After a coffee break, the group was divided into two: Group one was taken to our malt production, while the second group was given a tour inside our laboratories. The groups then swapped over.

After lunch, the group was then taken through the production and the logistics department. Our final part of the factory day was the presentation of baked goods, including sourdough and IREKS CRAFT MALT which raised many discussions about the high quality flavour and textures. We also presented our new VEGAN CAKE MIX which was very well received by all. Later on in the evening, after a tour of the town, we had dinner at the "Kommunbräu", a typical Franconian restaurant.

On Tuesday we were picked up at the Hotel and transferred to "Kreuzer's Backhäusla" – a bakery which included breakfast and a tour behind the scenes of a typical German bakery which again caused many discussions with our bakery friends on processes. The next stop was the Bakery Museum, where we had a tour of bakery through the ages. After a lunch stop at the Fuchsbau Bakery, we were then transferred to Bamberg, a world heritage site, for a City tour led by Horst Köstner. In the evening we had the final dinner at the Plassenburg Castle, a typical Franconian feast and a night with the famous Ralf!

A great time was had by all with a few sore heads in the morning!
