Scottish Bakers Annual Conference and Baker Of The Year Award 2017

On 5th and 6th May 2017, IREKS UK Ltd. was again in Scotland for the 126th Scottish Bakers Annual Conference and Baker Of The Year Award.

Michael Black (Technical Adviser for Scotland) was supported by Paul Nicholson (Technical Adviser for the North of England).

IREKS U.K. Ltd. had many of its firmly established favourite products on show - including SPELT & HONEY which again generated much interest from craft bakers with also IREKS CORN BREAD being a firm favourite with all. The focus of the IREKS stand was on the products IREKS NO. 8 (bread mix) and also IREKS NO. 8 TOPPING.

The conference took place on Friday and Saturday:

Friday was exhibitors' day and in the evening, the Scottish Baker Of The Year Regional Awards 2017 took place. Sheona Black (Black of Dunoon Bakers Ltd. who were our guests) received the Silver Regional Award for DONKER BREAD.

On Saturday various lectures were held and presentations based on the topic "Kneading to change?" were carried out. In the evening, the Scottish Baker Of The Year National Award was given to Reids of Caithness - UK's northernmost mainland bakery. Gary Reid - owner of Reids of Caithness was also given the National Gold Award for Corn Bread (IREKS CORN BREAD-MIX and IREKS CORN BREAD-TOPPING).

The star guest of the event was celebrity cake maker Mich Turner MBE.
